A Need For Food

I had a customer come into the store today,
Looking to get some crickets for her gecko.
Originally she only wanted six, because she'd been told that they only needed to eat two at a time.
O.o Who knows who told her that.
And then she wanted to know how long it takes the geckos to get full grown.
So I told her about a year if they're eating well.
Which would mean feeding more than two crickets at a time to the gecko. I usually recommend 5 crickets per leopard gecko, sometimes as many as 10 per feeding. To help them grow.

In any case, as I was adjusting the number of crickets she wanted from 6 to my recommended 24.

She happened to notice our dish full of water cubes on top of the cricket box.
-As I'd taken it out to be able to see all the little crickets in order to count the today.
And asked what it was.
So I told her "It's water for the crickets, they can't drink straight water so we give them these."

She was quiet for a moment before saying. "I didn't realize they needed to eat."

It took me aback for a second and I told her. "Well...it's a living thing, all living things need to eat."

Granted I can see how you don't think about the live food for your pet would need to eat because its food itself. But....it is a living thing. If you want them to live longer than the 'four days' you say that they can live for you....you gotta feed them too. *shakes head*

MRS -DishWasher Woes

Our Dishwasher quit working.
It took me forever to realize that.
I mean. You stick the dishes in, hit a few buttons twist a nob, and walla, I heard the machine going.
So I thought all was fine.

All was not fine.
It shows how often I use the dishwasher to realize that it wasn't fine.

Apparently, our dishwasher was no longer putting water inside of itself to clean the dishes.
>.<
So even after multiple runs of the dishwasher.
The dishes weren't getting cleaner.
Or getting cleaned at all.

Ugh.

Thankfully, placing in a work order to get it fixed was simple, and easy, and the dishwasher was back in working order just fine the next day. *shakes head*

Good thing I don't need Dishes that often....
Of course, If I did....I would have realized faster that it wasn't working correctly. *sighs*

MLAARE -Bowl Size

It may be that it's because I'm training a bunch of Greenies in my department.
It may be that everything is so overwhelming to them that things I say just go in one ear and out the other...

But seriously....Am I the only observant one?

So, I had one of our greenies come in for the first time to do the morning shift.
Which meant a lot of overwhelming information would be yammered at them for the next two or three hours as I worked to get my duties in the morning done while training them to do the rest of the tasks that they're expected to do when there are two of us in in the morning.

And so, I'd shown my coworker how to clean the cat cages.
Told them what to do, showed them everything, had them pull the food and water bowls out of a couple of cages, before gathering up all the rest quickly to take them to be cleaned.

And I told them. "When you're done here, go grab the dishes, rinse them out and dry them, then bring them back to have food and water placed into them."

Seemed simple enough.
Only apparently it's not.
Because at the same time they were doing cats, I was also cleaning out our hamster cages, which meant their bowls were in the sink as well.

And a little while later I had my greenie coworker come up to me and ask: "Which bowls are for the cats?"

O.o
Shouldn't that have been obvious?
The bowls were two different sizes! They looked completely different in that one had a rim around the top that jutted outwards, while the other ones didn't.
It should have been obvious considering that this coworker had handled at least two of said bowls for the cats themselves!

Which is why I've been wondering....
Am I the only observant one?

How could they not remember which bowls went to the cats and which ones didn't?

In a way I can get it.
Honestly I can.
The first few weeks of work is overwhelming.
You don't want to do anything wrong.
So you're extra careful with everything.

Then there's also the paralyzing terror of having responsibilities placed upon you.
The fear of doing something wrong.
Of screwing up so badly, that you'd get fired.
That it clouds your mind, your thinking. So that your coworkers have to spell everything out for you.

I know, I've been there. Though my terror was more with cashiering than cleaning cages. lol.

So I can understand how this coworker may not have registered what the bowls looked like.
How they would have been thrown off if they returned to the sink expecting only one set of dishes to be in there -the cat ones - and was instead confronted with multiple ones.

*sighs*
I can't wait to have all the greenies get more comfortable in my department.

MRS -Cleanliness

Oh, I'm liking my new roommate more and more. ^^

Apparently she had the fix-it guy come in to replace a light that wasn't working in her room.
And for some reason a lady came in with the guy as well.

She took one look at our kitchen.
Basically stuck her nose in the air, and said "This would never pass cleaning checks."

O.o Excuse me.
Were cleaning checks today?
Obviously no.

What more so, it wasn't like the kitchen was a 'disaster area.'
There was mail on the counter, a drink left out from the night before, dishes in the sink, random food items on the counter,
Hardly a mess at all.
It just looked lived in!

But from how the roomie described it.
She was acting like we were the worst of hoarders with trash piled all over the place.

So my roomie quickly moved stuff off the counter, did a quick spray down on it to wipe it clean and asked cooly "Is this better?"

"It's tolerable." Was the response.

Ooooo I hate her already.
She sounds like one of the super ultra neat freaks who thinks the apartment is a disaster if there is a speck of dust visible anywhere. *sighs*

But the best part...
Is that my roommate is of the same opinion.
She was offended that this stranger walked into our apartment and started criticizing our place.
Honestly lady, you know nothing about our lives, how busy we've been, the chaos that's been going on and you come in and judge our place?
Yah. She definitely wasn't there to make friends.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one to take offense at this unwanted opinion.

^^ Yay for a roomie with similar tastes!! Woot!

MRS -Notes I Hate

I really need to move into a place where I don't have roommates.
Where I can leave dishes out,
Make messes,
Hang out on the couch all day.

And not have anyone leave little annoying notes about the state of 'tidiness' of the apartment. >.<

The worst part, now, about the leaving of those notes to 'keep the kitchen clean' to 'clean up the dishes.'
Is that my coconspirator in not doing the dishes....moved out.
So it's just me.

So I know it's directed directly at me. >.<
Which doesn't help.
As I LOATHE doing dishes.
And it's not like I make that many of them. >.<
Grrrr
I placed them in the sink and everything. Shouldn't that be enough? It's not like they're smelling up the place either.

But I just need to tolerate it for another couple of months,
and then the writer of the notes will be gone.

Still, every time she leaves a note.
I consider leaving a not so nice note back.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm getting closer to doing it every time.

For now.
I'm going to put off doing dishes like I planned, until tomorrow. And do them then when I have to clean up the place for a cleaning check anyways.

MRS Dishes

I finally took some action tonight.
Regarding a situation in our kitchen, that has been long over due for a takeover.

For you see, since the day I moved in,
There have been dishes -clean ones mind you- in the dishwasher.

I originally thought that they were my first roommate's as she moved in before me.

But apparently, they are from far longer than that.
For they have remained untouched, unmoved, for months.
And considering that particular roommate....and like all the roommates like to handwash their dishes.....
-Perhaps they too have been waiting for the 'owner' to empty out the dish washer.
it is unlikely that the dishes are any of theirs.
So therefore.

I have claimed them as my inheritance!
Yay for obtaining a random assortment of dishes from who knows. :)

Amongst them, my proudest item to obtain.....is a popcorn bowl. ^^ YAY!! :D

Now hopefully. The Dishwasher can be used more regularly....as long as I remember to take out my new dishes once they're clean. ^^;;
