Scratch Scratch

Had a customer come into the store today with a little puppy.
And they were wanting some shampoo but specifically they were looking for one to prevent their puppy from scratching. Like a flea and tick shampoo.

Which. O.o looking at the puppy it looked healthy enough to not be plagued with the little creatures and they aren't as common in our part of the state...so I was asking more questions. Like...where is it scratching, is it all the time etc.

The customer -who is a new pet owner- is like "No, the puppy only scratches like crazy when we put the collar on him."

…..

"Does he scratch any other time?"
"When we take the collar off he'll scratch his neck for a little bit after as well.

*shakes head*

I basically was like "Dude, I think the puppy just doesn't like the collar. If he's only scratching when the collar is on then it's the collar that is the issue not any bugs."
Which seemed like news to him.

O.o
Like....it seemed like an obvious answer to me....

Puppies aren't used to wearing things around their necks.
So it would make sense it would irritate them and they'd want to try and get it off.

Especially if the collar wasn't a good fit. *shakes head*

Hopefully they got a better collar for the puppy...and that the scratching will stop.
